Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
When the iPod was first released, most viewed it as a personal music player for traveling, working out, or other "individual" activities. But that all changed when people started storing their entire music collections on their iPods and doing away with CDs entirely. Among the many product categories that emerged in the aftermath was the iPod-specific speaker system, which lets you listen to your entire iTunes library out loud but without sacrificing portability. The jWin I177BLK is the latest incarnation--a user-friendly, compact speaker system that looks somewhat like a clock radio (and functions like one, too), but stands ready to deliver deep, rich audio playback.

The powered system is outfitted with a dock on the top surface that holds many iPod models, including 5th- and 6th-generation iPods, iPod shuffles, and iPod nanos. The dock not only grips the iPod in an easy-to-access location, making it a breeze to find specific songs or hit shuffle, but it also charges the iPod while in use. As a result, you can remove the iPod from the dock right before working out and it'll still be fully charged, even after playing through the speakers for an entire afternoon. Even better, the I177BLK isn't restricted to the iPod, as it also connects to other USB-equipped personal MP3 players. Households with several personal music players won't be left out of the playback loop.

The system's audio performance is warmly satisfying thanks to jWin's Aura acoustic technology, which adds depth and clarity to the music reproduction. And even though the system is built for digital music files, it also includes a built-in clock, a dual alarm function, and an AM/FM _radio with PLL digital tuning technology. The radio makes the unit ideal for bedrooms, offices, and other locations where an alarm comes in handy. Listeners even have their choice of waking to the iPod, the radio, or a buzzer.

Additional features include a user-friendly backlit LCD screen, a precision volume control that ensures a comfortable sound level, a remote control for maximum convenience, and an external loop antenna that improves the AM reception. The I177BLK, which comes in a sleek black housing that measures 11.25 by 3.12 by 6.75 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

What's in the Box
I177BLK speaker system, remote control, iPod adapters, external AM loop antenna, user's manual.

4 out of 5 stars Good product.   July 7, 2008
I've had this for a few weeks now. The dual alarm feature is pretty good and one of the main reasons I bought it. It also has a good sleep timer that can be set on different times. The sound is clear and does the job. This is not for someone that is looking for a full feature high end stereo. This is for someone that wants a good alarm radio that can play their ipod. The downfall is the remote, if the reason you are buying it is the remote, I would suggest try to find something else. I have a 160gb iPod classic and it fits perfectly, it also has different docks for other ipod sizes. It looks really nice and the screen can be set at 3 different light settings or off. Overall I think it is a good product.

5 out of 5 stars Great Reception, Great Sound, Perfect Radio   June 5, 2008
I've been looking for a good bedside clock radio for sometime now, and specifically one that had decent reception on the AM band, and I'd pretty much given up hope.

I was drawn to this product as much for the iPod interface as anything else. My wife and I don't have a sound system in our bedroom and there was something nice about the idea of being able to bring our music to bed with us.

You'll be glad you bought this product for that reason alone. The sound quality that comes out of the radio belies it's relatively small size and low price.

And, yes, it has great radio reception on both the AM and FM bands.

Definitely worth looking into.

I like this a lot for its features. I can wake up to the radio, or my ipod tunes. It works with my iPod nano & my old shuffle that looks like a USB memory stick. :)

There are 2 alarm settings so you can set one for radio & one for iPod, for different times and/or volumes.

The sound isn't super fantastic, but it fills the room.

The range between the volume levels is too large. From volume level one to level two is a big jump.

I also think that the display light is WAY too bright even on the lowest setting. When the alarm goes off and if it's dark out still, that wakes me before the music does! :)

I really like the "sleep" button & how easy it is to use. I can set it to play music for up to 2 hours and then shut off. The ONLY problem with this is when it shuts off, the display light comes on, even though I had it set to "off" while on "sleep". This usually will wake me up due to its brightness.

The remote buttons you really have to press hard & aim right at it to get to work. But it's nice to have when that display light comes on so you can dim it if the unit is out of reach.

Overall, it does its job very well. I took one star away for the insanely bright display light and the fact that it comes on when the sleep timer ends.

4 out of 5 stars Almost perfect   May 28, 2008
I've owned my ILuv for about 1 month now. I love it. It doesn't have that jarring loud wake up sound when you use your IPod for your alarm. I like how it gradually wakes you up. It's very easy to program. The sound is pretty good for it being an alarm clock! The only two negatives which are minor are... my 80 gig classic IPod barely fits into the largest adapter. Also, the round knobs are not so smooth when turning them to adjust the volume or select a station, however that's what the remote can be used for! I highly recommend this product for those looking for an Ipod alarm clock. Oh, it's also an attractive unit to look at as well!

1 out of 5 stars False Advertising!   May 27, 2008
I'm disappointed in this product because it is not as advertised in the description, on this page!
Above states it is compatible with multiple mp3 players.
On the box however, this is not mentioned, only listing IPODS.
Interesting, how those who have older IPODS are having trouble, when the listing is entirely different!
If I did have an IPOD, I still wouldn't keep this product. A phone call to the manufacturer revealed it will NOT CHARGE YOUR PLAYER, as promised above. What is the point of docking, with no charge?
