Amazon.com Product Description Portable audio takes on fresh life with quality headphones, and Sennheiser's folding, lightweight, closed-ear PXC 250 is designed to keep outside noises out and headphone sound in--perfect for use in busses and libraries alike. Increase the peace! The PXC 250 features a noise reduction unit that cancels out background noise.

When engaged, NoiseGard active noise reduction drops steady-state low-frequency noise (from about 500 Hz and below) by 15 dB--which the human ear perceives as more than halving the noise--thus enhancing the clarity of your music. The noise reduction circuit requires 2 AAA batteries (not included), but the headphones work fine without the circuit engaged. Sennheiser's fold and flip design lets you turn the ear pieces 90 degrees and fold the headphones closed. Their ported design lets them move more air for greater bass response. What's in The Box 6-foot Kevlar-reinforced cord, .25-inch stereo adapter, airline adapter, belt pouch.

These healphones a OK but not great October 3, 2008 I looked at a variety of active noise cancellation headphones. The BOSE high-end ones were far an away the best in terms of eliminating external sound and sound quality. They are also very expensive and I just couldn't justify the price. I found the Sennheiser's to be the best under $100 so I went with them. They are reasonably comfortable, the sound isn't as bright as I would hope and the external deadening is very obvious but not as great a it should be faced with variations like people talking. If you are price sensitive then they are not a bad pick. If not then move to the next level or be disappointed.
Good for travel September 30, 2008 I bought two pair of these for an oversees flight. The batteries easily last for the 9 hour flight. They were comfortable, not too hot and had good sound dampening cutting out most of the engine noise. They had good range for music and in-flight entertainment. No where near as good as the bose, but for less than 1/3 the price, I'd recommend them to a friend. Folded up easily for storage.
Sennheiser PXC 250 Active Noise Canceling Headphones September 30, 2008 They are okay, not too comfortable for wearing for a long time but good value for money. I'm not sure these types of headphones do anything more than cancel out aircraft noise because when used under other continuous background noise scenarios, like with a lawnmower, they seem to block only the same frequency as for aircraft noise.
BOSE quality without the BOSE price September 30, 2008 I was looking for something with a BOSE quality without the BOSE price. This is it. Noise cancellation was comprable. Haven't had it long enough to know about battery life but love the fact the control is straight line in the cord and not built into the ear piece (easier to remember to turn it off).
I would buy this again for a gift with no worries about the quality.
Amazing for the Price. Compare with Bose. September 28, 2008 I purchased my Sennheiser PXC 250's a month ago. Before I purchased, I did an in-store comparision with the Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones at four times the price. I found the Senn's to be equal, or better, in noise-cancelling capability, audio quality, and for me - long period wear comfort. They're not as 'pretty' as the Bose, and I did find the cord design and arrangement to be somewhat clunky and archaic, but at four times the price how much is pretty worth? After a month's extremely heavy use, sitting at my computer 10 hours a day, I'd say I made a very wise decision with the Senn's.
