Lego Sandcrawler Review (I couldn't think of a better title! :( September 6, 2008 I loved this set for many reasons: 1. The minifigures were absolutely fantastic, 2. The top middle section pops out, giving the builder better access to the insides, (which comes in real handy considering that this set requires more mantinence than it's worth) Seriously, though, this set should only be built by accomplished Lego fanatics because of how big it is. 1,669 pieces is not for the faint-hearted. In closing, it is a really sweet set.
Brace yourself and the toy! August 6, 2008 We were excited to get this toy because my son is really into all the droids and it comes with lots of them however it took 2 days to put this toy together because it kept falling apart. We had to rebuild the Sandcrawler twice because the bottom kept coming completely apart! My husband had to brace the whole bottom part with extra piece plates that we had from other sets. This is definitely not a "put together Christmas day" toy and if you don't have the time to put together all at once or a place to put pieces away from other children, you may want to skip this one until another time. Now that it is put together (for the time being), my son has been gently playing with it and he loves it.
details, fun, ways in, ways out June 25, 2008 I'm guessing the burnt orange and baige bricks are the stains like in the movie. Cool. I like to pretend the the crane is supposed to suck them up, again like the movie. The crane also can put them through the hatch.(the one left or right from the center, it depends witch side the crawler is on.) The hatch in the middle lifts off to let the crane on top, or so you can lift out the workshop. Lifting it out is easy, and can easily go back in. The Jawas have lots of tools. There is also a driver's hatch and a knob to turn the wheel thingies. There is a door too. The fun thing is, you can take other set figures and make mischeif around the crawler. Luke is a character I need to get, but that's okay, I can get him. This set is okay to leave just on a desk, table or open shelf, it is more fun anyway. Go have fun!
Very Nice May 21, 2008 As an adult who bought this set for myself, I'm not completely sure of how well it would work with kids. It is listed as 12+ on the age, and I'd definitely suggest NOT ignoring that. That said, this is one of the only highly detailed LEGO sets available that has clearly been designed with at least some thought towards play, instead of purely display.
For adult fans of LEGO, this is a great set. The finished product looks absolutely great.
Fantastic AND Disappointing May 2, 2008 This lego set was fantastic to build. It was exciting to see it come to shape step-by-step with my 5-year old son. It took six days but the final product...wow!...amazing! HOWEVER, it falls apart easily. That is such a disappointment. The floor especially. I am repairing it frequently for my son and even I break it up by accident sometimes.
