Works for me March 9, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
People having trouble with this device should try going through "Control Panel">"Network Connections" to instantiate a label for the WiFiMax. The alternative route through the "Start">"Connect To" pathway doesn't always work because of Windows operating system weirdness which tries to set up an entire home network. Also, experiment with the "Windows Firewall">"Advanced" tab settings belonging to the DSL connection. My computer would not make a connection to WiFiMax until I found the right combination, and that took about 20 minutes of experimentation - the WiFiMax was working but the congestion was at the firewall for the DSL connection. After you figure those things out, it's just plug n' play. I get a strong 5 bar signal 100 feet away, and even in the car in the garage. Fast enough to handle connections through two DSes and the Nokia. Attractive matte white casing and a convenient plug in stand that has another USB cable to connect to the main computer.
Cannot make connection.... August 20, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased the WII Wifi Max hoping to make the wireless conection. I cannot make the connection without disrupting my cable connection to the internet. I am not happy with it at this point. I have read of several solutions, however, because I am not a tech person, they make no sense to me.....

To the above customers, did you try to bridge the connections? Go to interenet connections and right click onm the usb device and then click on bridge connections.

This product simply does not work. It says it's windows XP compatible, but I was never able to get it to work even with hours of trying. Stick with the 1st party product. It's easy to install and works fine.
AWFUL! May 18, 2007 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
We purchased this item to use as a WiFi provider for my Wii. The instructions were quite simple (the instruction manual is only 4 pages long) and were read cover to cover and over and over. We spent all night installing, then un-installing and re-installing the software. We went to the company's website for help (useless, even with downloading new driver), played with all of our networking settings (tried all possible combinations of sharing network connections and adapting settings within the program itself), called the company's customer service number (of course, it's a small company so they're not there past 5PM eastern or on weekends) and got NOWHERE! If our computer would even recognize that the device was plugged into our USB port, it usually stated that the device was giving off no signal at all. Windows will not auto install the device, does not have the drivers required to setup the device and is of no help with troubleshooting either. Don't waste your money or your time!!
