We fight over it August 27, 2008 This game combines Scrabble, Boggle and some good old fashioned "strategizing". My husband and I fight over the DS at night as to who gets to play first and who gets the most "flowers". It is the best fun $20 can buy!
Word Jong DS August 22, 2008 I love the game play, but the daily puzzles and battles with the masters are not challenging enough for me. It's fun to play with another player who can challenge me and make it tough. It's probably challenging for someone who doesn't work with language and words all day, as I do. But if you are a word expert or a Scrabble player, this will be fun and make you use your noodle, but won't really stump you.
2 defective chips! August 14, 2008 I LOVE this game, however i am in process of returning the second one. Both froze at a certain level, no way to progress, and finally totally froze. Tried in another nintendo gameset, and did the same thing after clearing the chip. Soooo maybe just a bad group, but am not replacing it. Amazon has been wonderful about the thing though. Too bad, a truly good game, addicting.
So simple in theory... July 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
No time limits, unlimited 'undo's, a simple concept - this game has to be a piece of cake! Not even close. While the idea (pulling off tiles to form words) is dead simple, winning the game is quite difficult.
I've only played the 'daily puzzle' version, as I have no one else to play against, so my review will really only cover that game mode. Still, that alone would be reason to buy it!
I like the fact that there are two levels of winning - clearing the board and beating the high score. You can clear the board and get partial credit for a win if your score isn't high enough, or you can clear the board and get the high score for the full win. It's nice to have an in-between stage for the times when you're not quite 'on' enough to get a full win.
My one and only quibble is the dictionary is not as full as I'd like. There have been several instances where I've tried to use words I know are correct, only to be told it was not in the dictionary. And with no way to add any, well, it's just a bit of a disappointment when you know you have a great word and can't use it.
This has quickly risen to be my favorite DS game, and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves words and puzzles... and has a lot of patience!
Quite an addictive game July 29, 2008 I like the fact that this game in the "daily puzzle" mode does not time bound you more like a sudoku or cross word you solve in a news paper. That means to me its more of a relaxation than a tension intensive game which is something nice in the evenings after a hard days work. That one reason me and my wife play it for hours till late night. Also the same puzzle can be solved in multiple ways (by the choice of tiles and words), meaning you can play the same puzzle 2-3 times back-2-back and not get bored. The designers had a causal gamer in mind(for success) and hence the buttons "undo" which is really nice. Allows you to get back to a certain desired point and continue. The other feature i like is the ability to dig into tiles and that way you have an outlook of whats underneath and how you need to plan for your next 2-3 words. If you are in an airport(waiting) or in a long flight or waiting for your wife to finish shopping what a cool friend this game is !! overall an interesting game. Not to much action(can't expect either). The music too is soft especially if you are on the game for 1-2 hrs (doesn't nag your ears). Definitely would recommend this game.
