Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Pet Pals: Animal Doctor invites players to step into the challenging world of veterinary medicine as they diagnose and treat 30 different medical cases created by real-life veterinarians. All on your very own Nintendo DS with touchscreen control.

In Pet Pals: Animal Doctor, players will learn the techniques required to diagnose and treat 23 different pets, including a Yorkshire terrier, python, turtle, parakeet, rabbit, Siamese cat and hamster. To do so, players must successfully administer more than 40 Touch Screen tests while interacting with stressed patients and concerned pet owners. Medical cases range from hairballs to infections and broken bones. After the treatment is complete, players can tend to their recovering patients by cleaning their environment, and feeding and playing with them until they're all better.

4 out of 5 stars i give it four stars for a reason   July 11, 2008
Pet Pals is a fun game that lets you explore and learn how to be a vet. When done with a patient you feel good a bout yourself because it feels as if you just saved an innocent animal. Now the bad part.....when you finish a leval (say..easy) and go on to a different one its the same thing you just did except with no flashing icons and its not even harder and there arent harder tasks and there arent different types of animals.
But overall,its a good game

5 out of 5 stars Animal fun on the go!   April 8, 2008

I take my kids on road trips all the time and so when I found out that Pet Pals had come to NDS I could not be more pleased. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that your children are satisfied to endure a 5 hour car ride; and this is all due to their Pet Pals game. I get to sit back and relax and they get to take care of their favorite animals.

It is also nice to know that they are not watching violent graphics. Great game for parents that only want the best for their kids.

It's a cute game and semi-educational, but sometimes things just don't make sense. I often end up hitting the hint button because I've tried to inspect the parts of the animal that were mentioned by the owner and they're wrong. Then the hint says to look at something unrelated out of nowhere. There's nothing to direct you that way. Items can't be done out of order whether or not they're related. I can understand not randomly letting you bandage or give medicine before you've realized there's an injury or sickness, but why does it matter which order you check pulse, temp and breathing? And more importantly, if it matters why aren't they consistently in the same order so you can know which one to hit?

The concept of the game is pretty good. The graphics are ok and the tools are all well laid out and all function well on the touchscreen (except I consistently had trouble with the x-ray not registering). I just lost all interest in it because the only option was to pick something at (semi-)random and lose points for it or click hint and play the entire game as an elaborate version of simon says.

Oh, and those mini-games where you can "learn about animals" are trivia questions, the square tile-sliding puzzles and match. What are you going to learn about animals from sliding tiles and matching picture cards?

5 out of 5 stars The Best Animal / Pet Game - Fun AND Learning   February 16, 2008

My kids love this game and unlike other pey/animal games, here they actually learn something and have fun learning. The sounds, colors and actions are really engaging for the kids and we all have fun with the Triva game... again fun and education and they actually feel like a real Vet!

This is a can't miss 'no-brainer' if you have kids and would like them to learn somethin every now and then while having fun with their Ninetndo DS! WELL worth the money...
