reason to buy ds October 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I consider myself pretty restrictive of my son's screen time. Generally they get 90 minutes a week (including cartoons on saturday morning). Was impressed with a friend's son's ds, brain age is amazing, and I encourage my children to play it whenever they're in the car (doesn't count as screen time).
After researching the ds and the available games I purchased a ds for my two sons (age 6 and 8). My intention was to permit them to play only 2 games: - brain age 2 - club house games
I got brain age 2 bundled when i bought the ds, but club house games was unavailable. The boys like brain age 2, but the intensity of timed mental exercises sometimes gets old, especially on long trips. I have spent the last 9 months searching in vain for club house games, enjoyed a disputed purchase on ebay and then watched the used price climb past $60 for this "rare" game. I was surprised to find it available new on amazon at a reasonable price.
Club house games is a large collection of traditional games. The games are all simple and well made. I've watched the 6yo play chess, and I think the game play is good enough for a child. The games are much higher quality than the various cheapo electronic pocket games you find at toys 'r us, mostly enabled by the ds's excellent screens and pen interface. Focus of Club House Games is on game play and the collection is a great complement to the ds. Some of the games are pretty easy, but the boys like to win, so thats ok. The boys love it and I don't mind them playing it in the car.
Club house games is pretty much equivalent to a big collection of board games, without the mess and without the fights when one boy loses to the other. I'd like to see them each have a ds and play head to head, but I think one ds is enough for now.
Like to take a break from Brain games but still be challenged! October 14, 2008 I like almost all these games except the card games but that is just because I don't like card games in general except UNO and the like.
They are almost all un locked to start out and I like that fact.
Has most of the favorites but some are called different names then say Hoyle board games for the PC.
Overall a lot of fun and I recommend Highly.
Club House Games review October 12, 2008 This game is great for me. I love to play cards and usually don't have someone to do this with. The Hearts and Rummy games are good brain activity. It helps me to relax and tire out my brain before sleeping. I would buy this again. The only thing so far that I dislike is that the tiles on the Mah Jong game are small and hard to tell what each tile is. It would be better with larger symbols.
Plethora of fun. No single DS multiplayer! September 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Games are quick, cleanly presented, and fun. Only 5 games have to be unlocked, but it is easy to do so. The share feature is nice because you can send any game to another DS as a present, that way they can play it without being connected to yours (stays on their system until they turn it off). Just beware, there is no way to play games with another person using only one DS. This game would be perfect if you could pass around the DS and take turns bowling, but you can't! Still a great game to add to your collection and have with you at all times.
Great Variety! September 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I think this game is by far the best card/board game out there on Nintedo DS. Alot of fun and a large variety of games that you won't get bored after a week. I prefer it much better to Touchmaster. If you're into card games, board games, bowling, so on, this is a great game to get to entertain you for hours.
