Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Assume command over hyper-fast futuristic motorcycles and race them in stomach-churning tracks filled with massive loops and sharp turns. The circuits themselves—there are 10 in the game—are designed with the contours of the landscapes. Through these courses, players can take part in a variety of modes, including arcade, championship, team, cooperative and multiplayer.

Amazon.com Product Description
Extreme G3 is a gravity-defying racing game. After climbing onto one of 12 supercharged, fully armed bikes and engaging your protective shield, you're off on an extreme racing challenge. Race underwater, beneath the earth's surface, through cratered canyons, and out into space as you play through Extreme G3's nine racing circuits. The game's two-player split-screen modes include Team Grand Prix, Head-to-Head, and Co-op. This game also sports a landscape animator that renders course environments in a graphically detailed, futuristic style that's visually compelling.

4 out of 5 stars I loved it!!!   December 1, 2003

I'm a huge XG fan and of course I HAD to get this latest version of the game. Although I will admit that it cannot beat XG2 for N64, this game is awesome. It has the feel of extreme speed and the music helps to add to the atmosphere. The graphics are better than ever for any XG game -- as is expected. All of the race tracks are good too. This game has a great replay value because once you beat it on single player you can always play the multiplayer version against friends or team up to race together. I loved the new aspect of being able to race on the same team as a friend! The only improvements to this game would be the addition of a few more tracks, or maybe different variations of the existing ones as in previous versions of XG. Overall, I would reccommend this game to anyone, and it is a must-have if you are a big fan of racing games!!!

2 out of 5 stars Not so good, G3 tries to copy wipeout and f-zero   November 29, 2003

Wipeout XL is one of the best racing game ever and Psygnosis is awesome. After the new generation consoles came out (Xbox, PS2, Gamecube), games like Quantum Redshift, Wipeout Fusion, and F-Zero GX all try to copy the original Wipeouts. Quantum Redshift and Wipeout Fusion are horrible. F-Zero GX is a good game but lacks weaponary. Im still waiting for the new 'real' Wipeout to appear.

Extreme G3 tries to copy wipeout and f zero. The way the action moves, the way the track moves, the steering action, all feel decent. Air brake works good. The turning has limited range, I find it impossible to steer the race bike in reverse track fashion. The courses are pretty good, the shaloms, downhills, twists are all nice. However the tracks could've used some jumps or ramps, and tunnels.

The graphics is good but worse than the other 3 games. Graphics is more like Dreamcast or N64 quality but still good and gets the job done. The sound is lame, the techno music is cheesy and very low in quality. And all the bikes look the same.

The weaponary system is nice. There are many types of weapon and you can carry up to 3 per race. You can switch between weapons and use the boost feature too. This part Acclaim did a good job.

Problems: There are no alternate camera views. No replay.

Overall this is an average game.

3 out of 5 stars Extremely Fun, but Gets a Bit Old   May 5, 2003

This game is pretty good, but rent it before you buy it. The graphics are very good, but some of the courses are easy. Also, to people that don't often buy racing games, I don't recomend it for it might turn you off from that genre. As for racing games, get Mario Kart Double Dash when it comes out, THAT is a good example of a racing game.

2 out of 5 stars Nope.   April 4, 2003

I didn't like this game. PS2 has it's Wipeout Fusion, Xbox has it's Quantum Redshift, and Gamecube has this. This game dosen't compare to the other systems. It basicaly is a very mediocre futuristic racing title. I suggest you stay away.

3 out of 5 stars Not very good   March 6, 2003

The concept here was good, but poorly executed. I have played a lot of games on the GameCube, and usually I resign myself to playing games that have great critical reviews. This title I picked up as a budget title, and after a week, I sold it. It is fun as a rental, but save your money for other purchases. So far, Nintendo's own F-Zero franchise looks to be heading in a similar gameplay direction as this game. I only hope that F-Zero for the GameCube turns out better than this.
